Service Delivery Consultant

We are looking for an experienced IT professional who will ensure our customers get the most from the systems and services we provide. Working with a small team of software developers and sales professionals, you will become a primary point of contact for customers when they need help.

You will be working in our Woodbridge office two days a week, working from home for the remaining three.

 

Introduction

We are looking for an experienced IT professional who will ensure our customers get the most from the systems and services we provide. The service delivery consultant role is the primary point of contact for customers when they need help or advice. We want you to apply your technical skills, intelligence, curiosity and knowledge of our software to deliver the best solutions for our customers. You will leverage the power of our system’s configuration to fine-tune warehouse performance for specific customer processes. You will need to be proactive, to ensure that customers are getting the most from our service and that they are aware of new developments that may be of use to them.

The role is a mix of reactive support and project based implementation work for new and existing customers. It will require you to develop a strong working relationship with the management team and technical staff within each of our customer organisations. We pride ourselves on understanding their individual requirements.

A typical week includes:

  • Responding to customer support enquiries
  • Capturing customer requirements and producing cost estimates for the work required to deliver a solution
  • Developing, testing and implementing new customer workflows and business logic
  • Being pro-active in identifying opportunities to add value to our customer's fulfilment processes

You will be working with a development team of four and one other Service Delivery Consultant.

We punch above our weight with some sizeable, well-known customers, including Axell Logistics, EWM, Jaeger, Peacocks, The Protein Works, ProFS and Social Imprints.

After ten years of development, our ‘OrderFlow’ warehouse management system is now a well-established, highly configurable enterprise platform that continues to mature. The business has entered a period of steady growth, our software regularly processes thousands of orders daily, including over 100,000 over the ‘Black Friday’ weekend alone.

We pride ourselves on the personalised service we offer our customers and the speed with which we respond to their requests.

Your Profile

You must have:

  • Experience of complex web-based software applications – Our main system, OrderFlow, is a modular, tiered, multi-interface MVC application
  • SQL expertise (we use MySQL / MariaDB) – can you extract data from a complex relational database in a performant manner?
  • Expertise in at least one scripting language – e.g. JavaScript, Groovy, PHP, Shell scripting etc.

It would be nice if you have:

  • Experience working within or with a software devlopment team.
  • Experience of distributed working practices and tools
  • Experience of Java and/or MySQL based applications
  • Familiarity with a structured development environment or IDE – e.g. Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA
  • Experience of Linux deployment and administration – using Ant scripts to manage deployment and other tasks

You would be ideal if you had experience of:

Java coding, Jasper Reports, Groovy, Ant, Jetty, Spring, Cloud environments, Warehouse management systems, e-commerce platforms, Templating languages (we use Freemarker), Subversion (source control).

Key Responsibilities

Provide response and take actions to address customer queries raised within our support systems.
Work with customers to understand their requirements, undertaking chargeable work to deliver solutions to satisfy them.
Proactively monitor environments where premium support is being provided.
Work closely with the development team, both for problem resolution as well as for scoping and delivering solutions.
Administer and enhance our software release, continuous integration and performance testing environments and processes.
Build, configure and administer customer and internal systems.
Note that all support is provided to key technical contacts within our customer organisations rather than to end-users. Our ‘OrderFlow’ warehouse management platform is a mission-critical application for our customers, the role requires that you develop a strong working relationship with the internal technical teams in each customer environment.

The compensation package offered will be competitive, subject to your own experience. It includes 33 days holiday (inc. national holidays) and a contributory pension.
