The Edinburgh Woollen Mill has extended their use of warehouse handhelds to include order picking.
After successful trials with Motorola warehouse handhelds EWM has introduced handheld picking for live orders. ?The process has proved to be fast and accurate, and was implemented with no disruption to the warehouse operations.
Items are scanned from the pick locations into picking carts, which are then presented to the packers. Handheld scanning allows errors to be identified at the earliest possible point in the picking process and ensures that stock items are tracked at every stage of their journey through the warehouse.
Warehouse handhelds are now used for putaway, rolling stock checks, stock adjustments and order picking.
