Urban Industry is an independently owned street wear and urban clothing store specialising in men’s fashion, classic streetwear and exclusive footwear. They run a Magento website and a bricks and mortar store from Eastbourne on the South coast of England.
Until recently Urban Industry had used another warehouse management solution from PeopleVox to support their warehouse operations, but as the business continued to grow it because increasingly apparent that a more flexible solution was required. After evaluating a number of alternatives the decision was made to migrate to the Realtime Despatch OrderFlow platform.
The Realtime Despatch implementation team came onsite to discuss what Urban Industry wanted from the OrderFlow environment. All the warehouse processes were reviewed and the optimal approach agreed. There were several processes within their existing workflows that the Urban Industry staff were comfortable with and had proved to work well, so these were carried through into OrderFlow. A test instance of OrderFlow was then configured, allowing Urban Industry to familiarise themselves with the new environment and test the new workflows.
Urban Industry took the opportunity to introduce a defined route through their picking faces. This ensures that pickers do not need to double back on themselves when moving along the picking face, and never need to pass one another in the picking aisles. The result has been a dramatic improvement in picking efficiency.
“A multi-line pick that might have taken half an hour using our old system now takes between ten and fifteen minutes.” – Josh Buckwell, warehouse supervisor
Realtime Despatch were onsite when the OrderFlow system went live, helping to ensure that the migration went as smoothly as possible and minimising the impact on the daily pack and despatch process. Once OrderFlow was processing live orders Realtime Despatch stayed around to help the team find their way around the system and to make immediate changes to the configuration in response to the feedback received from the users.
“We had 3 days of on-site support, and the launch went fairly smoothly. The launch was unbelievably much better than with our previous WMS. There was no downtime, and the support has been amazing.” – Vicky King, founder and operations manager
After one month of operation the OrderFlow environment is delivering significant process improvements and is proving to be more reliable than the system it replaced, but the biggest difference is the flexibility and responsiveness of the OrderFlow support services.
“Support has been 100%. Response times are very quick. I am unable to fault it.” – Vicky King, founder and operations manager
